Brew Bridge, currently Owensboro’s only brewery, has grown exponentially since its inception in 2019. The full bar, restaurant, brewery, and event venue is dreaming up many events for the spring and summer.
Mainstay events include trivia on Tuesday evenings at 7 p.m., with bingo at the same time on Wednesdays. They also boast a weekly brunch on Sunday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. that features mimosas and Bloody Mary specials.
Co-owner David Haynes said they are working on a wide array of events for warmer weather that showcase their patio and trolley.
“We’re working out the logistics regarding a multitude of events, including derby day, a 5K, a beer festival, and a trolley hop,” Haynes said. “We don’t have a lot of concrete details on those just yet, but they’ll be arriving soon.”
Despite navigating through a pandemic, the brewery and property continued to expand and evolve. They recently purchased an additional downtown building to enhance their brewing efforts and revolutionized their entire menu to boast Texas-style barbecue.
“We just expanded into another building for our bottling, canning, and barreling programs,” he said. “We’re expanding our smoking capabilities and generally just trying to make our business as inviting and well-run as possible. There’s a lot of challenges right now, but we’re hopeful for the future.”
Owensboro went more than a century without a brewery, and Haynes, long-time friend Max Garvin, and master brewer Will Gomez are ecstatic to provide Owensboro with a product they can be proud of.
“Owensboro Brew Bridge has something for everyone,” Haynes said. “It’s a great sense of pride for us to be a small business in Owensboro. We’re truly lucky to get to do what we love each and every day. Our motto is based on doing things in a ‘community way’ by seeking input from the community and implementing them.”
Haynes said that isn’t always possible, but it serves as their guiding principle. He added that they source as many ingredients as possible locally and strive to operate in a manner that most benefits the community as a whole.
Brew Bridge’s elaborate menu features 12 of their locally-crafted beers, hand-made cocktails, and an extensive beer and wine menu. The new food menu offers everything from artfully-created burgers to fresh-off-the-smoker brisket, turkey, and pork with homemade sauces.
