Local bands claim top honors, numerous accolades over weekend

All four local high school bands brought home a bevy of accolades over the weekend after performing in the Ohio County Marching Invitational, including Daviess County being awarded Grand Champion and Owensboro being Reserve Grand Champion.

Daviess County

The DCHS Band of Pride received the following recognitions in Class 3A: Best Percussion, Best Guard, and 1st place in class. The band was also awarded Best Overall Percussion, Best Overall Visual Effect, Best Overall Music Effect, and the Grand Champion award for their performance of the 2021 show “The Sun, The Moon, and the Stars.”

Owensboro

The OHS Marching Band the band was awarded 1st place in their class, Best Percussion, Best Overall Visual Performance, and Reserve Grand Champion. 

The band and color guard also performed at Butler County earlier on Saturday, winning 1st place Class 4A as well as Best Color Guard and Best Percussion in their class. The band was also awarded Best Overall Color Guard and Reserve Grand Champion. 

Owensboro Catholic

The Marching Aces took 1st place in Class A, Best Percussion, and Best Color Guard. The band also won Best Overall Color Guard.

Apollo

The Apollo Marching Band received the following recognitions in Class 2A: Best Color Guard and 4th Place for their performance of their 2021 show “Bloom.”
