Owensboro native Ericka Brake is excited to open Black Lotus Yoga & Healing Space this Saturday, offering yoga, energy work, and other healing modalities. Brake is passionate about sharing her services with others and guiding them through their healing journey.

Brake is a 500-hour registered yoga instructor and a level one and two certified Reiki Energy Healer.

“I’ve taught yoga for almost 10 years, and I’ve taught at many places around Owensboro,” Brake said. “I was always looking for a space that felt like home. After Covid shut a lot of yoga and wellness studios down, I decided it was time to create that home studio for myself and others.”

Brake said Black Lotus Yoga (located at 920 Frederica Street, Suite 1040) will be a space of inclusivity and diversity.

“We want everyone who walks through our door to feel loved and supported just as they are on a yoga mat,” she said. “Our other instructor Ash and I believe it is essential to uphold the traditions, limbs, and sacredness of the yoga practice.”

The two also believe it is time for the Owensboro yoga community to have a space where everyone can experience different yoga and healing ceremonies.

She also aspires to add donation-based classes soon with rotating instructors from the community. Other workshops, specifically Cacao Meditation ceremonies, are on the agenda to “bring everyone together.”

Black Lotus Yoga will celebrate with a grand opening on December 3, with 30-minute yoga teasers for $5 per person. Festivities begin at 9 a.m. with a Vinyasa Flow with Brake, followed by a Meditation and Slow Flow at 9:45 a.m. with Ash.

A free Mini Sound Bath at 10:30 a.m. with special guest Rebecca Samples concludes the event.

Brake said the studio would host weekly classes and regularly post its schedule and prices on Facebook.
