Academy Award-winning film composer Joe Renzetti has joined the production of Blood Moon Picture’s slasher comedy New Fears Eve. The latest film from local creators P.J. Starks and Eric Huskisson is set to be released soon.

With the first official trailer dropping last week, promotion and interest in the film has been ramping up, Starks said.

The film, which features Felissa Rose (Sleepaway Camp, Terrifier 2), Dave Sheridan (The Devil’s Rejects), Hannah Fierman (V/H/S) and Jeffrey Reddick (creator of the Final Destination franchise), also has a main cast of local actors plus some celebrity appearances.

Starks said the slasher pic blends horror and comedy while still focusing on a character-driven plot.

The addition of Renzetti brings along some more notoriety. He has previously composed the scores for such notable genre fare as Child’s Play, Dead & Buried, Frankenhooker, the Basket Case franchise, and Tales from the Crypt.

Starks, who is a writer, producer and co-director of the project, said they are excited to have Renzetti become part of the team.

“He contacted us out of the blue saying he was interested in our film and wanted to know more,” Starks said. “Having someone of his renowned talent approach us was a welcomed surprise, not to mention a surreal moment. Joe has previously worked with Ron Howard and Mel Brooks as well as masters of horror John Carpenter, Tom Holland, and Frank Henenlotter.”

Starks said Renzetti is very down-to-earth and seems excited about working on New Fears Eve

“As you can imagine this was an opportunity we weren’t expecting and we’re very much looking forward to working with him,” Starks said.
