Kentucky Sports Radio’s Matt Jones’ wrestling circuit is coming to Friday After 5 for a free show from 5:30-7 p.m. tonight. The event will be stages on the grass lot behind the Hampton Inn & Suites Owensboro Downtown/Waterfront.

“I’m thrilled that we’re returning to Owensboro and writing another chapter in an already rich wrestling history,” Jones said. “OVW is hitting every corner of Kentucky on the Morgan and Morgan Summer Tour, but Owensboro is always special and we’re beyond excited to be back.”

Organizers said the first match starts at 5:30 p.m. and the entire event family-friendly. There is no cost to attend.

OVW was founded by “Nightmare” Danny Davis in 1993 under the name NWA Ohio Valley Championship Wrestling. According to their website, “OVW became the world’s only state-accredited professional wrestling trade school in 2019, continuing a trailblazing path that the company has set for almost 30 years.”

Fran Marseille, Executive Director of Friday After 5, said she is thrilled to have OVW joining the festivities this week.

“Many in our community have reached out about this great event taking place this weekend,” she said. “It’s a little added entertainment value for FA5 thanks to our city support and Visit Owensboro.”

Chris Gendek, Destination Services Director for Visit Owensboro, said, “We’re always looking at ways to create an even bigger economic impact that adds entertainment value for both residents and tourists.  OVW wrestling pairs perfectly with the ACO World Championships and we know our competitors and their families will enjoy family fun on the river.”
