Maddy Nanney has known she wanted to work in the fashion and retail industry for years. Since she launched Confetti Boutique in 2020, she knew she wanted to open a brick-and-mortar store in Owensboro. On Thursday, she announced plans for her first storefront location.

“After many years of growing a customer base online and locally at pop-up events in the mobile boutique, the time felt right,” she said. “When I saw the building at 1743 Daviess Street — previously the My Fish Doctor building — I knew it was meant to be Confetti Boutique.”

While the building is basically ready to go on the outside, renovations still have to be done inside. Nanney said she hopes to start renovating in mid-November and is shooting for an early February grand opening.

Followers of her brand know she is all about vibrant, fun clothing and accessories, but Nanney said she has plans to expand her offerings.

“I currently have limited styles in S-2X, but at the storefront I’d love to carry more size-inclusive options than we do now,” she said. “I am also planning to offer more gift options.”

As for the mobile boutique, she plans to still take it to larger local vendor events, such as the Hayden Farms Market.

Some of Nanney’s goals for the future include hosting girl’s nights and events at the store.

“I’d love to use my space to help other small business owners and allow them to pop up at the store,” she said. “A lot of local business owners have been kind enough to host me over the years, which has played a major role in Confetti Boutique’s growth, so I hope to do the same for others.”
