Gateway Commons will soon be home to the retail store pOpshelf, a division of Dollar General. Representatives for pOpshelf said the store offers an “affordable and fun” shopping experience, with the majority of items priced at $5 or less.
An email from the pOpshelf PR team said the new at 2600 Calumet Trace is currently under construction, and the store opening is slated for early winter 2024.
“At each pOpshelf store, customers can expect a joyful and guilt-free shopping experience as they browse a selection of on-trend seasonal and home décor, health and beauty must-haves, home cleaning supplies, household and specialty items, arts and crafts, party planning and entertaining needs, toys, and much more,” the PR team said.
The store’s website says, “With most items priced under $5, in addition to a complement of extreme value items priced above $5, we make it easy for our guests to stay within their budget while treating themselves at the same time.”
The pOpshelf concept was introduced by Dollar General in 2020. An October release from the company said “initial targeted customers are primarily female and are located in diverse suburban communities with a total household annual income ranging from $50,000 to $125,000.”
Today, pOpshelf operates more than 190 stores, largely across the Southeast and Midwest.
