Legacy Owensboro partnered with 2.0 Barber Studio and Girl Talk Studio this past week to host Legacy Littles Free Hair Cut Day. The two shops provided over 50 haircuts, while families enjoyed free pizza and a chance to win a new Nintendo Switch.
The event was the brainchild of Joshua Chance at Legacy Owensboro and his barber, Austin Jones, from 2.0.
“Jonesy was cutting Joshua’s hair, and they were talking about it. They came to me with the idea, and I thought it was a pretty good idea,” said 2.0 owner Rob Jenkins. “I cut Spencer Phillips’s hair, and he’s the pastor there, so I told him about it, and he agreed it would be awesome.”
The organizers agreed it was a much better outcome than they thought, offering over 50 haircuts to church youth and the underserved community.
“It was really just pizza and haircuts, but it was a success,” Jenkins said. “We definitely want to do it again, maybe around the beginning of school, when we can have school supplies and other stuff.”
With a team of barbers, stylists, and a state-of-the-art shop, 2.0 and Girl Talk completed the haircuts in record time.
“We’re good friends with the church, so that was nice, but it also feels good to give back to the community and do our part,” he said. “When everybody pitches in, it’s a better world.”
2.0 Barber Studio opened on Frederica Street in 2018, but it outgrew its location and moved to 3000 Alvery Park Drive, just off KY-54. The studio accepts appointments and walk-ins and offers standard cuts, shaves, beard trims, bald fades, and nearly any other barber service.
