St. Benedict’s annual fundraiser, “Tables of Hope,” returns on April 27 to the Blessed Mother Catholic Church Parrish Hall. University of Kentucky Assistant Professor Dr. Alex Elswick will be the guest speaker.
The annual event allows table sponsors to decorate their tables with clothes, dinnerware, flowers, and more in competition with one other. The top two most creative tables will win an award. In addition, there will be a silent auction.
“We’ve seen sophisticated tables with beautifully patterned china and flowers to incredibly creative tables revolving around themes such as Independence Day, military service, Thanksgiving, and more” said Director of Advancement Susan Law. “The fun doesn’t stop with the decorations though; we also encourage guests to match their attire to their table’s theme to give it even more expression.”
Elswick is an advocate for people who use drugs and people with substance use disorders. He currently is the University of Kentucky Assistant Extension Professor for Substance Use Prevention and Recovery. He is a trained researcher and therapist, but perhaps more importantly he is a person in long-term recovery who found himself homeless from the chronic disease of addiction.
Individual tickets are $40 each, with several tables and corporate sponsorship opportunities available. For more information or to purchase a ticket, click here.
