Bluegrass Auto Visions, a relatively new auto mechanic shop in Owensboro, has hit the ground running since opening its doors on January 1. Brad Simpson co-owns the operation with Josh Hamilton, and the two boast several decades of auto experience.

“As first-time business owners, we didn’t really know what to expect,” Simpson said. “When we started off, the landlord gave us three free weeks, and we didn’t have any money to invest. We took those three free weeks and hustled to make rent. We haven’t been out of pocket since.”

Bluegrass Auto Visions offers a wide range of services, including everything from oil changes to custom motor builds. They specialize in LS motor swaps, and right now, they’re working on a Ranger with a 5.3 LS motor in it.

“We’ve worked on twin turbo Mustangs and are about to put a diesel in a Bronco,” he said. “We’re also doing fuel injection on a ’68 Mustang. From standard brakes and oil changes to full custom builds, we handle it all.”

While the shop provides many services, some are still being developed. Simpson said they rotate tires but aren’t set up yet for alignments or AC work. Right now, they’re focused on standard maintenance and custom offerings.

Looking ahead, Simpson and Hamilton have ambitious plans. They eventually plan to consume the entire complex at 1865 Old Calhoun Road in Owensboro.

They also offer several interior and exterior detailing packages.

Both Simpson and Hamilton have been tinkering with cars since they were young. After decades of working around the community in other shops, they decided it was time to venture out independently.

The shop is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
