Habitat for Humanity Owensboro-Daviess County will host their annual Summer Warehouse Sale this Saturday. Items available include building materials, replacement windows, interior/exterior doors, furniture, and more.
The event will take place at Habitat’s headquarters at 2930 West 4th Street starting at 8 a.m. All proceeds will go to Habitat’s construction materials fund for houses being built.
“These warehouse sales are such an important economic driver to Habitat’s mission in this community,” said Summer Aldridge, Habitat fundraising committee member. “Habitat hosts warehouse sales three to four times a year as fundraisers for the organization. The community (individuals and businesses) donate gently used or overstock items — such as furniture, appliances, or home remodeling materials — and the items we cannot use in our projects are used in the fundraiser.”
Everything is first-come, first-serve. Habitat asks for donations for the items and patrons will be checked out by applicants in Habitat’s Homeownership Program.
“There are a couple of things I really like about these events,” said Jeremy Stephens, Executive Director at Habitat. “First, 100% of all the received donations go straight to the build fund with no administrative costs taken from it. It is very important to the organization that we are always an excellent steward of donated funds. Second, I love the fact that our applicants are actively involved in everything we do. From helping build on the worksite, to fundraising for their own houses. These amazing people put in the work and truly deserve the house that is built from them in the end.”
The event is a rain or shine. Donations for the items can be made by cash, check, credit card, Venmo, or PayPal.
