Independence Bank is preparing for its inaugural “Day of Good” on Saturday. On October 19, more than 450 volunteers, including bank employees, their family members, and board members, will support 29 organizations in 15 counties.

Evan Gorman, content marketing specialist at Independence Bank, emphasized the importance of community engagement.

“We’re a community-based bank, and volunteering is nothing new for us,” Gorman said. “From the very beginning, we’ve donated our most valuable assets—our time and people. This event reinvigorates our efforts to serve the communities where we live and work.”

In the Tri-State area, which includes Daviess, Henderson, Hancock, Hopkins, McLean, and Webster counties, 250 volunteers will participate in a wide range of activities supporting 18 organizations. Gorman said 150 volunteers will be stationed alone in Daviess County, assisting with 13 projects.

Some efforts include work with My Sister’s Keeper, a non-profit dedicated to helping women and children experiencing homelessness, and the Pitino Shelter, which provides essential services to the homeless.

“We’re excited to continue supporting organizations like My Sister’s Keeper, which we’ve worked with from the very beginning,” Gorman said. “Their mission to provide shelter, safety, and support aligns perfectly with our values.”

Gorman said the event symbolizes the bank’s deep commitment to the community.

“We wanted to bring our teams, families, and board members together to support organizations whose missions align with our own. It’s a chance to give back in a meaningful way,” Gorman said.
