Steve Winkler, CEO of the Cliff Hagan Boys & Girls Club in Owensboro, has been honored by the national organization for his professionalism and positive impact on the local community and beyond.

The Boys & Girls Club of America recently held its 2024 Midwest Leadership Conference in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. During the conference, Winkler was presented with the Horizon Award, given to a CEO with 5 or more years of experience in the Boys & Girls Club Movement. According to a release from the Boys & Girls Club, the recipient also “ exemplifies professionalism through their work and organizational development and advancement of the Movement regionally and nationally. This award recognizes leaders who have made a positive impact on their organization, community, region, and state for their work in organizational development.”

Winkler was surprised to receive the award, and he gave credit to his many others for helping him make an impact.

“I am grateful for this recognition, but it would not be possible without the vision and hard work from our boards, community support, and the fantastic staff that sees every possibility of changing lives in our youth that enter our doors and create infinite possibilities for those who need us most,” he said.

Winkler will return to the Midwest Conference in 2025 to present next year’s Horizon Award.
