Green River Distilling Co. is spreading holiday cheer with two special tasting events to support WBKR Christmas Wish, an initiative to ensure children in the tri-state area receive a visit from Santa. National Brand Ambassador Caryn Wells will lead the bourbon-themed evenings on December 5 and December 19 at the Green River distillery tasting room.
A release from the distillery said the December 5 event, Bourbon 101: Grain to Glass, is designed for beginners and bourbon enthusiasts curious about the craft behind Kentucky’s signature spirit. Wells will guide participants through the whiskey-making process, from grain selection to the final product.
The release said attendees will experience the journey hands-on, with opportunities to smell, touch, and taste ingredients. The class concludes with a tasting that compares identical whiskey recipes with different secondary grains.
On December 19, Wells will present The GlenCaryn Experience, a traveling bourbon showcase she has brought to enthusiasts across the country. This event will feature a guided tasting of five Green River products paired with sensory food items to highlight the complex aromas and flavors in the whiskeys. The release said guests will also learn about the rich history of Green River.
Both events begin with doors opening at 6 p.m., followed by the experiences at 7 p.m. Tickets are $30 per event, and 50% of proceeds will support WBKR Christmas Wish’s mission for local children. Reservations are required, and tickets are available at greenriverwhiskey.com/visit-us.
Green River Distilling Co. is Owenboro’s only distillery and dates back to 1885. It is the westernmost stop on the Kentucky Bourbon Trail.
