Get ready, Owensboro! The City is about to put its fleet of snowplow trucks in the spotlight, and you could be part of this frosty fame. Owensboro Times has teamed up with the City of Owensboro and the Public Works Department for a fun and unique contest to name all six of the City’s hardworking snowplows. Here’s how to submit your name ideas.
While we’re already claiming bragging rights for naming one truck “Snowensboro Times,” the other five need names that are just as cool (pun intended). That’s where you come in!
For today only, Owensboro-area residents can submit their best, most creative, or downright hilarious snowplow names. Names can be submitted exclusively in three places:
- The Facebook comments of this post
- The Facebook comments of the OT post from this morning about the competition
- The Facebook post shared by the City of Owensboro about the competition
The submission window closes at midnight tonight, so don’t let your ideas flurry away!
Once the submissions are in, a panel of judges from the City, Public Works, and Owensboro Times will huddle together to pick up to 10 finalists. The finalists will then face off in a community vote next week. That voting will be held exclusively on the Owensboro Times website.
The top five names will be revealed at the January 21 City Commission meeting. Winners won’t just have bragging rights — they’ll be recognized at the City Commission meeting and get to pose for a photo with their named snowplow when the decals are ready to roll. Imagine driving past a snowplow clearing your street and proudly declaring, “I named that!”
So, whether you’ve got a knack for puns, love local pride, or just think you can outdo “Snowensboro Times,” it’s time to bring your A-game. Submit your ideas now, and let’s give these snowplows the names they deserve!
