RiverPark Center’s Bourbon & Bags for Broadway fundraiser is returning August 7 with another evening of Kentucky bourbon, designer handbags, and a mission to make live theater more accessible for local students.
The event begins at 5 p.m. and aims to raise funds that will help eliminate financial and transportation barriers for youth to attend Broadway performances at the RiverPark Center. Officials said last year’s fundraiser brought in $84,000, allowing nearly 300 students — many from underserved communities — to experience professional theater, some for the very first time.
One student, Christian, expressed his gratitude after attending a show last year: “Thank you for giving me the opportunity to see the show last night. It was my first professional play. I never thought it would be something I’d get to do. I’ve never had the money to be able to see anything at RiverPark. … I’m so grateful.”
This year’s event will feature:
- Live Auction: Exclusive bourbons, including bottles signed by master distillers, paired with high-end handbags
- Silent Auction: Additional bourbon selections, luxury items, and local experience packages
- Food & Drink: Bourbon tastings, heavy hors d’oeuvres, and a full cash bar
- Atmosphere: A night of elegance and community impact
RiverPark Center plans to offer a school-day Broadway show next season, continuing its efforts to bring live performances to classrooms across the region.
Sponsors for the 2025 event include Barrel Heads Liquor Market & Tasting Bar (presenting sponsor), Independence Bank (live auction sponsor), and Sunset Elder Law (silent auction sponsor).
