Longtime St. Jude supporter Jerry Morris is firing up the smokers again this weekend, inviting the community to his farm for the inaugural St. Jude BBQ Cook-Off. Eating will start at 4 p.m. on Saturday, with live music and a fireworks show scheduled for later in the evening.
Taking place at Jerry & Vickie Morris’ Farm at 1026 New Cut Road in Whitesville, the event will feature 20 cooking teams competing for a cause that’s close to Morris’s heart. A $350 entry fee is required for cooking teams, with proceeds from the event supporting St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
Morris is known across the region for his cooking and fundraising efforts through Angels for Ashley, as well as his decades of support for St. Jude. He said he’s excited to bring people together again.
“I’ve always enjoyed cooking, and I love the opportunity to give back and share our farm with others,” Morris said. “Helping St. Jude has always been something I’ve felt called to do, and I’m proud to keep that mission going.”
The day will also include a live auction at 5 p.m. and a drop box auction ending at the same time.
Those interested in registering a team can contact Jerry at 270-929-3869 or Vickie at 270-302-7794.
