The Owensboro Symphony Youth Orchestra will present its annual Spring Concert on Monday.

The concert will be held at First Baptist Church (230 JR Miller Boulevard), with doors opening at 6 p.m. and the performance starting at 6:30. Tickets are $10, with free admission for all students. Advance tickets are available online here, and cash or check will be accepted at the door. Attendees are asked to enter through Door 7 at the corner of Daviess Street and 2nd Street.

The Youth Orchestra program, sponsored by the Owensboro Symphony, provides specialized training for young musicians and builds on local school music programs by offering advanced performance opportunities. Many participants have gone on to receive college music scholarships and continue performing beyond high school.

The program includes two ensembles: the full Youth Orchestra and the String Orchestra. Students represent local and regional middle and high schools, and the program also welcomes college musicians seeking to continue performing at a high level.

The Youth Orchestra is directed by Mark Hatlestad, principal viola for both the Owensboro Symphony and Evansville Philharmonic. The String Orchestra is led by Adrienne Vallandingham, who also serves as education coordinator and librarian for the Owensboro Symphony and teaches at the Owensboro Symphony Academy.
