Owensboro Community and Technical College will host a public open house at its Downtown Campus on June 13, giving community members a chance to explore workforce training programs, meet instructors, and learn more about educational opportunities available through the college.
The free event is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Downtown Campus, located at 1501 Frederica St. Organizers said the open house will take place rain or shine.
Visitors will be able to tour the facility, connect with staff, and participate in games, activities, and prize giveaways. Light refreshments will also be available.
“Whether someone is exploring educational opportunities, looking to build new skills, or simply wanting to learn more about OCTC, the Downtown Campus Open House is designed to welcome everyone,” Workforce Solutions Program Coordinator and Career Navigator Alicyn Rodgers said in a release.
Representatives from Adult Education, Workforce Solutions, and the Veterinary Technology program will be available throughout the event.
Adult Education staff will provide information on GED and English Language Learner programs, while Workforce Solutions representatives will showcase programs including CDL training, TechX, healthcare programs, GO FAME, ITEC, Computer Based Training/Flextrain, AMTEC, and Artificial Intelligence Innovation initiatives.
Attendees will also be able to learn more about the college’s Veterinary Technology program and its partnership with SPARKY, a local no-kill animal rescue organization.
“The Downtown Campus is home to a wide variety of programs and services, and this event gives the community an opportunity to come inside, ask questions, and experience what we do firsthand,” OCTC CDL Program Instructor James Cecil said in a release.
