Nominations are now being accepted for the Senior Community Center’s 2026 Silver Salute Awards, which recognize outstanding seniors and those who support them as part of the organization’s annual fundraising gala.

The awards will be presented during the Senior Community Center’s “Celebrating Decades of Community” event on Sept. 24 at its new facility at 3001 West 2nd Street.

Executive Director David Tucker said the Silver Salute Awards honor individuals in the categories of education, faith, and inspiration. The Elizabeth Munday Award and a special Community Hero Award will also be presented, along with recognition of the Senior Community Center’s volunteer and staff members of the year.

Nominations will be accepted through midnight Aug. 31. They may be submitted online through a link at seniorcenterodc.com, while paper nomination forms are available at the current Senior Community Center building, 1650 West 2nd Street.

Tucker said the fundraiser will include dinner, entertainment, the awards presentation, and a special edition of the center’s popular SCC Bingo. Doors open at 5 p.m., with the program beginning at 6 p.m.

The bingo game will feature a slideshow highlighting the Senior Community Center’s programs, services, and activities. Guests will mark bingo cards as images appear for the chance to win prizes. One bingo card is included with each ticket, while additional cards may be purchased for $10 in advance or at the door.

The evening will also include a photo booth, cash bar, and a meal catered by Morrison’s Food Services.

Tickets are $75 per person and must be purchased in advance through seniorcenterodc.com.
