According to the Owensboro Police Department, there was an attempted robbery in the parking lot of the Walmart on Highway 54 Saturday night.
On Saturday, October 27th, 2018, at approximately 11:51 p.m., the Owensboro Police Department responded to a reported robbery at 3151 Highway 54, Walmart.
The victims advised they were approached by a suspect with a gun who demanded their vehicles. Both victims fled in their vehicles without any shots being fired or any items being stolen. The suspects fled in the opposite direction.
When Public Information Officer Andrew Boggess was asked if these events happen on the east side of town often, Boggess said, “It is rare on 54; it is extremely rare anywhere in town.”
“That’s something that happens in bigger cities,” Boggess said. “That doesn’t happen in Owensboro very often.”
