A House of Representatives ethics panel announced Tuesday that it won’t reconsider Democratic Representative Jim Glenn’s ethics complaint against Republican House leadership.

The complaint comes after Glenn alleges Republican House leaders used a staff lawyer and other state resources to help in the election challenge against him.

November’s general election gave Glenn a one-vote win over his opponent, Republican DJ Johnson. Johnson later contested the decision, which was sent to the House of Representatives who requested the recount in January.

After an all-day historic recount by the Daviess County Clerk’s Office in early February, a tie was declared in the 13th District, with 6,323 votes for each candidate. Democrat Jim Glenn won the election in November by one vote, but Republican DJ Johnson later contested the decision, which was sent to the House of Representatives who requested the recount in January.

Laura Leigh Goins, deputy chief of staff for media relations for the Speaker of the House, said
the Legislative Ethics Commission “found that no partisan campaign activity took place, citing that all actions taken are specifically provided for in the Kentucky Constitution.”
