Two local men are a few years into their podcast that highlights everything Owensboro-Daviess County and features a wide array of local guests. Jacob Payne and Chase Cramblit formed Take Cover Podcast in 2017, having honest conversations with persons of interest and community leaders.

With more than 50 episodes and hundreds of hours of interviews, the two use conflicting personalities to both entertain and inform the citizens of Owensboro. Take Cover Podcast airs every Wednesday at 6 p.m. on Facebook Live and several other podcasting platforms.

“Every episode is different depending on the guest and we try to use every episode to prompt open and honest discussion with our guests and live viewers,” Cramblit said. “Jacob is more extroverted, humor-orientated, and willing to ask any question at any time while also making people feel comfortable and keeping them honest. I on the other hand am more introverted and serious at times trying to keep the conversation going in any direction that’s meaningful in pursuing.”

Some notable guests on the show include musician Josh Merritt, Josh Hayden of Gracie Owensboro, and the “dancing man” Tayvis Akpan. They strive to highlight each individual’s unique hobbies and professions initially, but the format of the talks generally evolves to every aspect of life.

“To Jacob and I this is the most important aspect of the show and can include discussions that are completely off the cuff and non-scripted or out of left field,” Cramblit said. “We do everything we can to help embody healthy discussion from entertainment to personal struggles.”

Working on their own separate podcasts at the time, the two decided to combine their talents to form TCP. They were motivated by the lack of open and honest communication between people in a world filled with social media.

“We started TCP for several reasons. One of the biggest is that we love to talk to people from all walks of life,” Cramblit said. “TCP felt like an opportunity to create a space for people to speak openly and honestly with each other no matter what they believe or who they are.”

With an emphasis on consistency and content, the two are actively searching for new guests and new topics for conversation. They are also looking for opportunities to give back to the community through small events, and other challenges and games that feature opportunities to win prizes.

“We are hoping to grow our podcast and our followers to continue to give back to our community and audience,” he said. “We currently have a giveaway going on for $100. You just have to like our page or share one of our most recent posts.”
