Beverly’s Hearty Slice is bringing back their big events for the holiday season, and they kicked it off by holding their annual Halloween event at Kendall-Perkins Park Friday evening.

Travis Owsley, founder of Beverly’s Hearty Slice, partnered with Southern Star Central Gas Pipeline to bring 150 candy bags along with the signature Little Caesar pizzas to the crowd.

Along with the food and treats, the organization was able to provide 50 hygiene bags for the children in attendance.

“It’s just a positive community to be able to get everybody out for something special, something positive, give back to the kids, give them some hope and inspiration to look forward to,” Owsley said.

Owsley is excited to take that energy to the annual Thanksgiving event as well. Last year Owsley said they were able to serve roughly 150 people at the dinner and also provided meals for them during the holiday season.

This year, on Nov. 19, they plan to serve 200 people with pizza and another 160 Thanksgiving meals along with winter coats. Along with the Southern Star partnership, Owsley said there are plans to have other donations from Pepsi and Little Debbies and others.

“A lot of people are tagging along and they’re wanting to be a part of the event and cherish the memories and I’m looking forward to it,” Owsley said.

Once the Thanksgiving bash ends, the Christmas event will go into full swing. Owsley is hoping to serve at least 150 families with gifts and food for the day. More information is to come as the day gets closer.
