The 15th annual Holiday Stroll will take place in downtown Owensboro this Saturday, with a little something for everyone of all ages — from a coffee crawl and food trucks to games and chance to visit with Santa Claus.

Debi Ford, Owner of Simply Chic Home Accents, said Santa will be downtown from 1:30-6:30 p.m. at various locations and will be ready to chat with children, collect Wish Lists, and pose for pictures.

Other activities include a scavenger hunt for gnomes with prizes, a bounce castle, carolers, live street music, popcorn, pop-up shops, and more.

Stores downtown will also remain open later than typical and will run special deals for the night.

“We’ll all be open late, the restaurants are going to be doing things, everybody is going to be out for this,” Ford said.

The Holiday Stroll originated in 2008 and was overseen by We Are Downtown, a group made up of business owners, property owners and those who simply want to see downtown Owensboro succeed. The event was eventually handed over to the City of Owensboro, but the downtown business owners are taking back over the reins.

“It is one of the biggest days of the year downtown,” Ford said. “So that’s why we felt like we had to do something to bring it back.”
