Cajun and Creole restaurant Tre’Vione’s “Better Than Good” is finally open after having to keep their doors closed a few months longer than expected.

The restaurant is located in Towne Square Mall next to the entrance on Frederica Street.

Renovations began late last year with opening plans scheduled for March, said restaurant spokesman Barry Atwell, but everything was pushed back because of the coronavirus pandemic.

Tre’Vione’s promises the Bluegrass a taste of New Orleans with food that’s cooked fresh and from scratch. The menu includes jambalaya, gumbo, frog legs, red beans and rice, fried chicken bites, etouffee, fried gator tail, crawfish, catfish and more.

The family-owned restaurant is relocating from Hawesville to Owensboro.

“Most of the customers we have come from Owensboro and surrounding areas. Hawesville is a small town, so why not come to where the customers are,” Atwell said.

Atwell said opening Tre’Vione’s at the current spot in the mall is in the best interest for the business. He added it doesn’t matter where the restaurant is located in town because people will come for the food, which will be cooked by owner George Banks and other chefs.

The selling factors for the current spot, Atwell said, include the spacious patio, a full bar, the huge kitchen and mall parking lot. The restaurant can seat 330 customers at normal capacity and has a separate entrance from the mall.

The temporary hours will be from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. seven days a week. They are currently hiring.

“We’re still a work in progress,” he said. “We just want to have a soft open and meet the families that come here and have a good family atmosphere. This will give us a chance to see what we need to do.”
