There will soon be a new Ben’s Soft Pretzels location in downtown Owensboro, and owner Ron Williams said they’ll be able to provide more menu offerings than usual there. The new store will be at 112 Allen Street in the space formerly occupied by Cold Stone Creamery.

Williams hopes to open the location by the end of April or early May.

Williams has also owned Ben’s Soft Pretzels located inside the Owensboro Meijer for about 3.5 years, and he bought a mobile food trailer last summer.

“We’re excited about it because it’s going to give us an opportunity to offer more items than we’ve been able to successfully do in the other stores,” Williams said. “We’ll be able to serve some breakfast, lunch and dinner items as well as many of our snack items. Pretzel dough can be used for a lot of things. We’re excited to be able to provide those offerings downtown.”

Ice cream will be on the menu — something that was recently added at the store inside Meijer.

Though they’ve had to adapt how and when they use the food trailer, Williams said it’s been a great addition to his franchises. He’s been able to utilize the trailer at crafts fairs, in neighborhoods, and at businesses, but Williams said he expects business will start to boom when events such as fairs and festivals can be held again.

Williams also owns locations at Evansville’s Meijer, Holiday World, the University of Louisville football stadium, and the Evansville Otters stadiums.

Williams was previously named Franchisee of the Year by the company’s top executives.
