Famous Bistro has been recognized nationally for its exceptional service, earning the 2021 Tripadvisor Travelers’ Choice Award for Restaurants.
The local restaurant, located at 102 W. 2nd St., announced the award via Facebook, stating that they are thrilled to be recognized in the top 10% of Tripadvisor’s vast restaurant list.
This isn’t an honor that Chef Jeff Bradley and staff were really focused on — as they are keen on Facebook reviews in order to really connect with the local community — but were thrilled to earn.
“I think what it means mostly to us is a public recognition and thank you for a lot of hard work,” Bradley said. “We’re extremely grateful that people want to take time to get on and review and stuff like that. So not only are they getting on and reviewing, they’re leaving us excellent reviews… It’s nice to hear that even the people that aren’t locals that are just passing through town are happy, and are so happy they want to go out of their way to tell us they’re happy through forms like Tripadvisor or Yelp.”
Bradley said that it’s the homestyle environment that he thinks helps them earn such good reviews.
“We feel like we hit a reasonable mark with that, where we serve very well-prepared homemade scratch-made food at the most reasonable prices we can in the most reasonable environment…,” Bradley said. “We want everyone to enjoy themselves and we enjoy ourselves. We really enjoy work so I think that makes for a nice environment for customers to enter into.”
The pandemic has made it difficult on businesses over the past year or so and that being said, Bradley and the rest of The Famous Bistro staff said that this award hit just a little more than in the past.
“I’m aware that we’re on Tripadvisor and our rating is good,” Bradley said. “We’ve won an award or two from them in the past, but this one, especially with everything going [this past year], this one felt a little extra sweet I guess.”
