Chipotle Mexican Grill plans to open the doors to its first location in Owensboro on Tuesday. The restaurant will be located in the former Krispy Kreme building at 4911 Frederica Street. The first 50 guests on opening day will receive free Chipotle Goods merch, according to a company spokesperson.
Hours will be 10:45 a.m. to 10 p.m., according to the spokesperson.
The restaurant features made-to-order burritos, tacos, bowls, quesadillas, salads, and more, all with a Mexican influence.
The building underwent a remodel and has a totally new exterior look after a nearly $700,000 remodel.
The lot housing the building was sold last year to California businessman Jacob Fedder under the Mali Frederica LLC for $1,150,000.
The facility opened in June 2016, but the Krispy Kreme location permanently closed in February 2018. The .69-acre lot was also formerly home to a KFC.
