Restaurant rumors run rampant in Owensboro. One that can be dispelled, at least for now, is that Texas Roadhouse is relocating and that another restaurant owned by the company, called Bubba’s 33, is coming to Owensboro.

After hearing several theories that Texas Roadhouse was soon headed to a new location in Owensboro — and that Bubba’s 33 might be going in the current Roadhouse building just off the bypass — Owensboro Times reached out to their public relations team.

A PR representative wrote in an email: “Thanks for reaching out to check on this information. We have no plans at this time for relocating this location or bringing a Bubba’s 33 to town.”

While Texas Roadhouse may not be moving, they’ll soon have new neighbors.

A Chili’s restaurant is being built in the location that most recently was home to Golden Corral at 4500 Frederica Street. The Golden Corral building was demolished, but the new structure is going up quickly. In February, a spokesperson for Chili’s said they expected to open this August.

Further down Frederica Street, Chipotle Mexican Grill is slated to open this summer. Chipotle is taking over the former Krispy Kreme building at 4911 Frederica Street after a nearly $700,000 remodel. Signage is already up on the building.
