Chick-fil-A is still “actively pursuing” a new location in the Owensboro area. While there have been rumors locally that the restaurant would be taking over the former Bob Evans location on KY 54, officials have not confirmed any details such a specific location or a timeline for when a decision will be made.
The news of a potential new Chick-fil-A location was first reported in December by Owensboro Times. Officials have said multiple times since then that no new information is available. Earlier this week, they provided they same statement as in December:
“While we are still early in the process, Chick-fil-A is happy to share that we are actively pursuing a new location in the Owensboro area. We look forward to working through the approval process with the City of Owensboro and are excited by the prospect of joining this neighborhood. We hope to have the opportunity to serve new guests delicious food in an environment of genuine hospitality.”
Officials declined to say whether “new location” meant a second location or the relocation of the current Chick-fil-A in Owensboro. However, it’s unlikely the current restaurant will relocate because the property underwent a $1.4 million renovation last year.
Owensboro’s current Chick-fil-A, located at 4601 Frederica Street, opened in November 2009.
