Mr. Bubble Tea has expanded to Owensboro, with the local location scheduled to open this Saturday. The bubble tea shop is located in the strip center behind Five Guys on Mt. Moriah Avenue, just off KY 54.
Owner David Chen opened the Evansville location nearly 5 years ago, and said it’s long been a plan to add a shop in Owensboro.
The new location is approximately 2,200 square feet — a good bit larger than the Evansville spot — and has a modern design inside.
With a combination of table seating for groups and spaces more spread out for those looking to just unwind, the atmosphere welcomes a variety of customers. The “dining bar” stretches more than half the length of the shop, with the various flavors prominently displayed for those who like trying new things.
Bubble tea is a tea-based drink that originated in Taiwan in the early 1980s. Various flavors, sweeteners, and/or milk is added to the tea, and it’s then shaken to mix thoroughly.
Chen said Mr. Bubble Tea has about 150 options when taking into account the flavors that can be added to smoothies, yogurt, fruit tea, and milk tea.
Their menu will also include food such as fried chicken, Chen said.
Chen said Mr. Bubble Tea will be open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. seven days a week.
