Sweet Temptations by Victoria now has a storefront where customers can find the unique, gourmet desserts, and owner Victoria Hess is planning a big celebration for the grand opening this Saturday.
The grand opening will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, and is something she wants to do for those that have been “very good to us.” The first 50 customers will receive a six-ounce stuffed M&M cookie. Something Borrowed will be there for free photos, and the Corporate Hippie will be on site doing bakery-themed face painting.
Sweet Temptations can now be found at 231 Williamsburg Square near Owensboro Christian Church, in the space formerly occupied by The Cup Cakery.
After two homes, both of which her business outgrew, Hess knew that leasing the bakery space was and important and timely decision.
“It is definitely nice to have that part of the house back and a lot more space that I needed [for baking], she said.
Hess began baking at an early age and learned from her mother and grandmother.
“It actually did begin with an Easy Bake oven,” she said.
Hess and her best friend Jennifer Hodges-Kirk will be the two faces at the storefront. Both worked on the interior renovations and are ready to offer loyal a new spot to place custom orders or find “grab-and-go” items in the cases.
“We will have brownies, edible cookie dough, cookies, stuffed cookies and cake pops, along with custom orders of cakes and cupcakes,” Hess said.
Hess finds joy in creating cakes and cupcakes because of the memories of her mom making the family cakes for birthdays and celebrations.
“My mom made our birthday cakes and I bake them for my family, so I feel like I am giving something personal to my customers – like family,” she said.
Custom orders can still be placed on social media platforms, which Hess prefers. They can also be placed in the store.
Hours will be Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
