Who’s ready for another chicken restaurant? Houchens Industries — a Bowling Green-based, employee-owned conglomerate — confirmed that a Slim Chickens is coming to Owensboro.
Marketing Manager Savannah Watkins said that while there is no confirmed date for opening, they plan on breaking ground in the fall.
She did not confirm an address or general location for the new franchise.
Houchens owns at least 42 Slim Chickens franchises already, and there had been talks of the group opening a location in Owensboro as early as 2022.
In an article released in 2022 by Bowling Green Daily News, Slim Chickens District Manager for Houchens Andy Baker said the conglomerate was looking at Owensboro for a potential location within the next 10 years.
In addition to the new Owensboro franchise, Watkins said that Houchens has plans for a franchise in Elizabethtown this fall as well as franchises opening this summer in Lexington and Murfreesboro, Tennessee.
