According to the Owensboro Police Department, a call came in around 8 p.m. this evening concerning three teenagers that found themselves lost in the woods near Field Packing Company.

According to OPD, the three teens were walking when they found it difficult to find their way out of the area. One of them made a call to their guardian explaining they were lost, and that guardian notified OPD.

OPD estimates that it took less than an hour from the time the call came in and approximately 20 minutes on scene to rescue the teenagers from the area. OPD called the Owensboro Fire Department for assistance in retrieving the teens who were farther back in the woods along the riverbank.

All three teenagers were located safely and returned home without requiring any medical treatment.

OPD Public Information Officer Andrew Boggess said, “It could have been bad, but thankfully we ended up getting them out.”
