Wendell Foster, a local agency serving people with disabilities, has started the area’s first Aktion Club. Aktion Club is one of the Kiwanis family’s Service Leadership Programs and the only service club for adults with disabilities, with more than 12,000 members worldwide. Their mission is to provide adults with disabilities an opportunity to develop leadership skills and serve their communities.

John Gleason, the local Kiwanis Club advisor says, “Members of Aktion Club are people who want to serve and improve their communities. They are energetic and dedicated to making a difference in the world.”

Cindy Huston, Wendell Foster’s facility advisor, says the local chapter was chartered on December 12, 2018 and hopes to grow the club to 15 active members.

Aktion Club meets monthly at Wendell Foster. The next meeting will be held on Friday, Feb. 22 at 2:30 p.m. in the Elmer Administration Building board room. Those interested in membership can find additional information on the organization’s website.
