Fiscal Court approves hirings, bids

The Daviess County Fiscal Court approved a number of hirings and bids Tuesday night at their monthly meeting.

Pavel Zboril and Brandon Alvey were unanimously voted as firefighter/EMTs effective upon successful completion of pre-employment screenings.

Daviess County Fire Chief Jeremy Smith said both men are from the county’s volunteer groups.

“We’ve got some of our best firefighters from our volunteer rank,” he said. “We are very pleased to present them to the court.”

Zack Crisp was unanimously voted as Daviess County Gun Club operator effective upon successful completion of pre-employment screenings.

Thomas Mullins was hired as a seasonal grounds maintenance employee for the Daviess County Parks Department effective upon successful completion of pre-employment screenings.

Daviess Fiscal Court also took action on the following agenda items:

• Mark Wagner was promoted to a permanent part-time employee with the Parks Department.
• Heard the second reading of KOC 921.675(2019); 15-2019 — An ordinance amending text in Article 11 of the OMPC Zoning Ordinance.
• Nick Hetman was voted to the Owensboro Regional Hospital Board. He replaces Suzanne Northern-Blazar. His term runs Oct. 31, 2019, through Oct. 21, 2022.

Bids were awarded for the following:
• One New AWD Backhoe Loader (Landfill)
• Two New Walking Floor Trailers (Transfer Station)
• One New Front End Loader (Transfer Station)
• Two New Chest Compression Systems (Fire Rescue)
• Panther Creek Park Fence System (Parks)
