Owensboro Municipal Utilities has announced approximately 350 customers located across from OMU’s Plant A Water Treatment Facility will be without water Wednesday while crews replace two 20-inch valves.

Work will begin at 2:30 p.m. and is expected to be off until 6:30 p.m.

OMU spokesperson Sonya Dixon said the work is a part of the maintenance and replacement program put in place after the last water main break.

Dixon said there will be a boil water advisory issued for the affected area only as a precaution.

“Unfortunately to work on a line you have to take affected areas out of service,” she said.

According to Dixon, the area of Wednesday’s outage is the same area that was most affected by the water main break.
