Renovations and remodels are happening fast in Wesleyan Park Plaza. The shopping center, which has been a staple in Owensboro for decades, has welcomed several new businesses this year and have seen updates from others.

Lance & Co. Jewelers updated their space in the plaza to give it a new, clean feeling. Double French doors were added to the entrance, the entire floor replaced, new lights were added, fresh paint throughout and a door separating the show floor from the repair rooms has given their customers a new space to shop.

Lance Embry has been in the jewelry business for more than 40 years. He took over Brinker’s Jewelers 16 years ago, establishing and owning Lance & Co. Jewelers for the past 11 years.

“We love Wesleyan Park Plaza because it’s in the heart of Owensboro, with easy access from any parts of town,” Embry said. “Neighbors are growing local businesses; there’s a good selection of shops to come to, the local businesses around us add to the draw of the center.”

Just a few doors down, Pure Barre Owensboro recently completed a total studio refresh. The renovations included new floors, a redesign of the customer area and equipment station, new paint throughout, the entire lobby was revamped including a redesigned retail area, new front desk installed and complete replacement of the old computer system. Clients have a new app to use for booking classes and setting fitness goals.

“We are so excited about the studio refresh,” said owner Annie McCrary. “Our clients have always known to expect the very latest in their workout and we constantly evolve so that no one will encounter the same workout twice. Updating our space ensures that our clients are getting the very best.”

To celebrate their remodeled workout facility, Pure Barre Owensboro planned a grand re-opening for Saturday hoping to both celebrate with existing clients and invite in new clients.

“This new refresh gives a classic workout a facelift,” said instructor Stacey Davis. “Pure Barre is home and it’s not the paint that makes it feel that way. It’s the individuals inside those walls.”

Not only have several remodels happened, but new faces can be found at locations in Wesleyan Park Plaza and the surrounding shops, where new businesses are coming to the area. This past year, Niko’s Bakery & Cafe opened and Shoe Stop relocated to the previous K-Mart location. According to one employee, the relocation gives their business the opportunity to serve more customers.

“I like the space of the building; it’s a lot bigger than the old location,” said Alex Jewel, who serves as a certified fitter of therapeutic shoes. “We have more space to buy more shoes and everything is updated so it’s nicer.”

Another new face in the Wesleyan Park Plaza shopping center belongs to boutique owner Natasha Stanley of Bella Ragazza Boutique. Their new location, which celebrated its grand re-opening to the public in late August after relocating, has seen a successful first few months.

“My favorite part is more space to carry a wider variety of merchandise for our customers. It’s so bright and happy,” Stanley said. “I love Wesleyan Park because of the neighbors and the convenience of being so centrally located.”
