Duke Spirits and O.Z. Tyler Distillery have announced they will open the Duke Tasting Room and John Wayne Experience in Owensboro in April 2020. This is the first tasting room to open under Duke Spirits.

Duke Spirits has been crafting Kentucky bourbon and rye-based on John Wayne’s 1962 recipe and notes uncovered and shared many years ago by his son, Ethan Wayne. Adhering to the classic recipe, Duke Spirits produces its Kentucky Straight Bourbon and the 97-98 pts Grand Cru Reserve offerings, which present a blend of classic distilling and the flavors of French Oak barrels and renowned Napa cabernets.

To commemorate the return of the Duke to Kentucky, Duke Spirits’ Founder Chris Radomski and Master Distiller Jacob Call will explain the distilling process, history of the brand and offer tastings of Duke Spirits’ bourbon and rye at an exclusive press event on Nov. 20.

A live music acoustic performance featuring Runaway June will take place at the event. This group features Naomi Cooke, Hannah Mulholland and Jennifer Wayne — granddaughter of John Wayne. This successful music trio is currently touring with Carrie Underwood and will be offering free interviews to media about their partnership with Duke Spirits.

“It is fitting to honor a great American legend and his love of bourbon at a truly historical landmark, O.Z. Tyler, which was founded in the 1880s and holds the 10th distillery license in the state of Kentucky,” Radomski said.

Call said he’s excited about this great partnership and is pleased to be selected as the distiller of choice for Duke bourbon and rye.

“It’s an honor to work with such a distinguished brand that so rich with history,” Call said. “We are confident the Duke tasting room with its John Wayne memorabilia will provide visitors to the distillery an unforgettable experience.”
