DCSO reports nine injured in two-car crash on Highway 405

A head-on collision in on Highway 405 left nine people injured Saturday morning.

According to a Daviess County Sheriff’s Office news release the accident occurred in the 6500 block of Highway 405. A 2007 Dodge Grand Caravan was traveling northbound on Highway 405 when it lost control around a curve and went sideways into the oncoming lane of travel where it was struck by a southbound 2002 Chevrolet Silverado.

The occupants of the Dodge Grand Caravan had to be extricated by firefighters on scene.

The driver of the Caravan, Chad Gibson, 42, of Owensboro was transported to Owensboro Health Regional Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Two juveniles in the Caravan were transported to OHRH and later transferred to St. Vincent hospital in Evansville, Ind., in critical condition.

The driver of the Silverado, James Luttrell, 33, of Owensboro and passenger, Carissa Benningfield, 25, of Owensboro, and four juveniles were transported to OHRH with non-life threatening injuries.
