A bill legalizing medical marijuana in Kentucky passed the state’s House of Representatives in a 65-30 vote Thursday.

Representatives who represent Daviess County Jim Gooch, Jr., Jim Glenn, Suzanne Miles and Scott Lewis all voted in favor of the bill.

The bill regulates and taxes medical marijuana sales, although it’s not being touted as a revenue bill.

Medical marijuana is legal in 33 states and the District of Columbia.

The bill prohibits patients from smoking the plant. Conditions that could be treated by medical marijuana under HB 136 include epilepsy, multiple sclerosis and Crohn’s disease.

The bill now moves on to the Senate.
