One dead after crash on Wendell Ford Expressway

One person was killed and four others were sent to the hospital after a two-vehicle collision at the 2200 mile marker of the Wendell Ford Expressway (bypass) Saturday night.

The Daviess County Sheriff’s Office, Thruston Fire Department and the Daviess County Fire Department responded to the incident.

According to the news release from the DCSO 1999 Ford F-150 was traveling westbound on the bypass and a 2011 Ford Mustang was traveling eastbound in the westbound lanes of the bypass.

The Mustang struck the truck head-on.

The driver of the F-150, Preston Crist, 29, Rockport, Ind., and his passengers, Anastasia Crist, 26 and Lilly Ana Crist, 2, both of Rockport, Ind., were transported to Owensboro Health Regional Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Preston Crist Jr., 6 months, was transported to OHRH and later transferred to Norton’s Children Hospital in Louisville with non-life threatening injuries.

The driver of the Ford Mustang was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Daviess County Coroner’s Office will release the name after the family has been notified.

Alcohol is not believed to be a factor.
