Registered voters in Kentucky are at an all-time high. Secretary of State Michael G. Adams announced this week that 3,462,152 Kentuckians are registered to vote as of Jan. 31.

In Daviess County, the Clerk’s Office reported 75,941 people are registered to vote as of Feb. 17.

Tonya Payne, election supervisor, said this count is not out of the ordinary. Democrats represent 52 percent of the total, with 39,800 registered voters, while Republicans represent slightly below 40 percent, with 30,042 registered voters.

Party breakdown of other registered voters:
4,014 – Others
1,822- Independents
214 – Libertarians
27 – Green Party

Of the total registered voters in Daviess County, women account for more voters than men, which is at 35,621.
Payne said there is a disparity in Daviess County between the number of registered voters and the people who actually vote. She said however that it does appear getting voters to the voting booth have gotten better.

April 20 is the last day to register to vote for the May 19 primary election.
