Students at Owensboro High School started their school day a little differently than normal on Friday morning.

Top college motivational speaker Blake Fly brought music, inspiration and stories of entrepreneurship to all grade levels as a part of the Teencentric Leadership Program.

Fly is known for his creative approach to community building, both back in school and in the present day. He transfers his lessons from campus life to his daily life.

Fly spent nearly a decade living, learning and leading in university residences as a Residence Advisor and then in his first career as a Residence Manager of one of the country’s largest student buildings. During his university days, Fly lived with more than 6,000 roommates and in that time he led groups of students on service-learning trips throughout the USA and The Dominican Republic.

The leadership program focuses on teens interested in entrepreneurship and business. The core group of 40 students in the program get exposed to real-life business lessons, as well as financial literacy programming. They learn about branding, competitive business and how to be philanthropic.

The entire student body gets to hear directly from world-class speakers. every other month.

The TeenCentric program is founded and sponsored by Travis Chaney and Drew Watson, business partners at Align Wealth Management, a financial planning practice, and Dynamic Directions, a coaching and consulting firm in Owensboro.
