According to the press release from the Kentucky State Police, a KSP trooper patrolling I-165 (William Natcher Parkway) observed a Mitsubishi SUV traveling northbound at 97 miles per hour in a 70-mile-per-hour zone around 6:35 p.m. Tuesday.

The trooper stopped the vehicle and on approach observed three children not restrained in a child car seat. The trooper detected a strong odor of marijuana emitting from the vehicle.

The operator, identified as Talbott, was given field sobriety tests. Talbott was believed to be intoxicated and subsequently arrested.

While the trooper was conducting field sobriety tests, he heard a noise coming from the rear of the vehicle. The trooper discovered three more children asleep in the rear cargo space of the vehicle.

Talbott and two other adult passengers were arrested and taken to the Ohio County Detention Center in Hartford. Social Services took possession of the children.

KSP troopers were assisted by Daviess County Sheriff’s Department and Ohio County Sheriff’s Department. Deputies helped Social Services transport the children. The women were babysitting all six children, who were under 5 years old.
