Owensboro Health Regional Hospital has modified its visitor restrictions regarding COVID-19. Mothers in the maternity ward can now have two visitors at a time, rather than one.

There are some stipulations, however. According to Chief Medical Officer Francis DuFrayne, the two visitors allowed per patient cannot rotate out and must be the same two people during the patient’s hospital stay.

The decision to include one more visitor for patients on the maternity floor was made after those at Owensboro Health realized how important support groups were for new and soon-to-be mothers.

The one-visitor-per-patient restriction will remain in place for the rest of the hospital, DuFrayne said. However, even that could change in the near future, he added.

“This is such a fluid situation,” DuFrayne said. “We’re remaining as fluid and flexible as possible, and we will adapt quickly to whatever changes need to be made.”
