4 new COVID-19 cases in area; 26 now recovered

Four more cases of COVID-19 were confirmed in the area Monday morning, though the total number of recoveries is now at 26 patients. 

Green River District Health Department reported three new cases in Henderson County and one in McLean County. 

Three additional previously confirmed cases are now reported as recovered — one each in Daviess, Henderson, and Union counties. The total recovered cases in the district is now 26 — with 21 in Daviess County, three in Henderson County, one in Hancock County and one in Union County. 

The total number of cases reported in the seven-county Green River District is now 95. There are 13 people currently hospitalized, and there have been two coronavirus-related deaths. 

Patients range in age from 20-85, with an average age of 52. To date, 56% of patients have been female and 44% have been male. Cases by age range are:
• 1-19 — 0 cases
• 20-29 — 11 cases
• 30-39 — 12 cases
• 40-49 — 17 cases
• 50-59 — 20 cases
• 60-69 — 23 cases
• 70-79 — 8 cases
• 80+ — 4 cases

During case investigations, it was discovered some confirmed cases resided in different counties than what was originally reported. 

Accordingly, the county totals are:
• Daviess County – 58 cases, 21 recovered, 1 death
• Henderson County – 19 cases, 3 recovered
• Hancock County – 2 cases, 1 recovered
• Ohio County – 6 cases
• McLean County -4 cases, 1 death
• Union County – 3 cases, 1 recovered
• Webster County – 3 cases 

“People must continue to be vigilant in helping stop the spread of COVID-19. In the days and weeks ahead we expect to see more new cases and an increase in COVID-19 hospitalizations,” said Clay Horton, GRDHD Public Health Director. “We all play a part in this effort and it is crucial we do everything we can. Stay home, avoid crowds and practice physical social distancing – staying at least 6 feet away from others. The lab-confirmed cases are only a portion of what is in the community.”

Cases are expected to continue to rise as testing capacity increases in the area and across the state.
