Apollo and Heritage Park high schools have rescheduled diploma distribution for the Class of 2020 in response to forecasts of inclement weather.

Apollo will distribute diplomas from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, while Heritage Park will do so from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Seniors and families are being contacted with assigned times of arrival and information about staging areas and other details.

Daviess County High School previously announced that its diploma distribution ceremony was rescheduled for 5:30-8:30 p.m. Monday, also due to inclement weather.

“We have continued to monitor weather forecasts to ensure the safety of our students, families and staff,” said Daviess County Public Schools Superintendent Matt Robbins. “The health and well-being of our people has been the guiding principle of our decision-making process throughout the Covid-19 event, and continues to be our priority.”

Students will arrive in vehicles with only members of their immediate households and will have the opportunity to be photographed and videotaped at designated areas with special backdrops. Drone footage will also be taken. Photographs and video footage will be compiled and shared with families at a later date.

Students, families and high school representatives will practice physical distancing and other safe behaviors throughout these ceremonies.

In responding to local, state and federal guidelines regarding safety precautions relating to Covid-19, DCPS will delay in-person graduation ceremonies until such a time as restrictions on large public gatherings are lifted. Information will be communicated to graduates and their families as those opportunities become available and details are finalized.
