The Sturdy Hinge Boutique has closed up its downtown store and is relocating to Preservation Station on KY 56.

Owner Natalie Denton said the move this week into the downsized space will cut some overhead costs. She attributed the change to the economic blow of the coronavirus pandemic.

“It actually gave us this opportunity, I feel like, to pivot our business model and begin to focus on what was growing the best, and actually it has been a good change,” she said.

Denton, a bra-fit specialist, said the “business model is going to be a little different” as it now includes online shopping and at-home fitting by appointments, in addition to services at the new location.

Denton said she believes she has been able to narrow down what works best for the business by being a professional bra-fitter for more than three years, adding her focus moving forward will be on undergarment fitting.

The Sturdy Hinge will open at the new location this weekend.

“We’re hoping with this new change that it will come back in a different way,” she said. “It might a bit of a risk, but you’re also getting rid of so much of the overhead.”
